US Reportedly Asks Nvidia to Investigate How Chips Ended Up in CN

The US Department of Commerce recently asked Nvidia (NVDA.US) to investigate how the company's products have entered China over the past year, according to The Information.

Nvidia has asked major distributors such as Super Micro Computer (SMCI.US) and Dell Technologies (DELL.US) to conduct spot checks of their customers in Southeast Asia as Nvidia's AI chips are used in the server products of Super Micro Computer and Dell.

The company insists that its customers and partners strictly comply with all export control restrictions, an Nvidia spokesperson said.

The company requires its distributors to adhere to all applicable regulations and export controls, and will take appropriate action, including termination of the relationship, if a partner fails to do so, Dell said.

Super Micro Computer said it investigates and takes action against any unauthorized exports or re-exports by third parties.
