The Central Economic Working Conference was held in Beijing from December 11 to 12. Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the conference and delivered a keynote speech. The meeting determined that efforts should be made to bolster consumption, improve the effectiveness of investment, and expand domestic demand in all aspects. Special actions to boost consumption should be implemented; the implementation of the Two New Policies should be expanded; stronger support should be rendered to the Two Projects; the coordination between fiscal and the financial sector should be strengthened; government investment should be mobilized to effectively propel social investment; urban renewal should be vigorously enforced; and special actions to reduce the logistics costs of society as a whole should be implemented. The meeting also mentioned the need to effectively prevent and defuse risks in key areas, firmly guard the bottom line against systemic risks, maintain efforts to push the property market to stabilize and reverse its decline, beef up efforts to implement the transformation of urban villages and dilapidated housing, promote the construction of a new model for real estate development, and safely dispose of the risks of local small and medium-sized financial institutions.
