Amex GBT Predicts Global Airfares to Rise Next Yr; Asia May See Max. 14% Surge

Amex GBT under American Express (AXP.US) predicted that global airfares will rise next year. Airfares on most routes will see an increase. Particularly, economy class fares in Asia and the Australasia region will experience the largest hike that may reach 14%, while North America and Europe may see a modest rise of about 2%. The main reasons for the airfare hikes include escalating wage costs, higher fuel prices due to geopolitical tensions, and delays in aircraft deliveries by suppliers, said the group.
