Bernd Lange, Chairman of the European Parliament's Committee on Trade, disclosed that the European Union (EU) and China are close to reaching an agreement on tariffs on electric vehicles (EVs) from the latter, Reuters reported.

China promised to set a minimum price for EVs exported to the EU in order to eliminate the problem of unfair competition caused by subsidies.

Since the end of last month, the EU has imposed additional tariffs of 7.8-35.3% on EVs imported from China, bringing the total tariff rate to 45.3% together with the original tariff.

The measures took effect on October 30. Since then, the technical teams from China and the EU have conducted several rounds of negotiations on the specific content of the price undertaking plan for EVs and ways to resolve related issues.
