PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) published a report at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting that showed six key commodities critical to the supply chain and the global clean energy transition face heightening climate risk, even under an optimistic low-emissions scenario.

The report analyzed six key commodities - lithium, cobalt, copper, iron, zinc and bauxite - and found that production may be increasingly disrupted by increased heat stress and drought risk, with knock-on effects on the supply chain even if production declines only faintly.

Based on the report, APEC economies are among the top three global producers of these six commodities, among which key minerals and metals are integral to global production and supply of electronics, technology, manufacturing, energy systems, and consumption goods.
