Alibaba Cloud announced that it has provided a total of over 1 million cores of CPU resources on the public cloud to support this year's Tmall Double 11 event following its full migration to the cloud.

This flexible scale set a new record by achieving on-demand access without the need for pre-purchasing computing power through a series of technological innovations. This also marked the first time cloud computing's real-time elasticity has been elevated to the extreme level of a million cores.

Leveraging the continuously updated full-stack cloud computing technology, the cloud infrastructure processor CIPU was applied on a large scale for the first time during Tmall's Double 11.

Based on the public cloud foundation, Alibaba Cloud developed a new unified computing power demand and resource matching scheduling engine this year for the Double 11 event. It can efficiently schedule public cloud computing power across multiple global locations, including Zhangbei, Nantong, Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, and Germany, which is estimated to save around 25-50% of the overall elasticity cost for the Double 11 event. The new engine can also achieve time-domain peak shifting of computing power demand, further reducing idle computing costs by 8%.
