K. Wah's Obituary: Lui Che Woo Makes Respectable Contributions to HK's Post-war Construction and Economic Development

GALAXY ENT (00027.HK) and K. Wah Group’s founder and chairman Lui Che Woo passed away last Thursday (7th) at the age of 95. K. Wah Group issued a statement of condolence, saying that Lui loved the country, Hong Kong and Macau all his life, and was a respected entrepreneur and philanthropist. K. Wah Group, which he founded, also adheres to the philosophy of integrity and innovation and is dedicated to the development of the country.

K. Wah Group also stated in its obituary that Lui was known as the “King of the Quarry”, having made outstanding contributions to Hong Kong's post-war construction and economic development. Since founding K. Wah in 1955, he had participated in East Kowloon reclamation. In the 1960s, he had introduced automation technology to the mining of Anderson Road Quarry, while expanding the real estate business and laying the foundation. In the 1970s, he built five-star hotels, improved the quality of Hong Kong tourism, and established the Federation of Hong Kong Hotel Owners Limited.
