John Greenwood, dubbed as "Father of Linked Exchange Rate System (LERS)", said in an interview with a media that the Trump administration's future policies towards Hong Kong and mainland China will definitely cause some anxiety.

Yet, he believed that Washington policymakers, as long as they do not harm their own interests, will wisely not take measures that restrict Hong Kong's participation in the SWIFT system and affect the operation of the LERS, even though geopolitical risks such as the Taiwan Strait situation or the Sino-US relations escalate.

Regarding the Federal Reserve's monetary policy, Greenwood assumed that the current trend of steady growth in the US greenback and relatively low inflation can be maintained. In the next year or two, the federal funds rate is expected to continue to decline slowly.

Greenwood thought that the market may be over-worried about the extent to which Trump's return to office and the implementation of sanctions and taxes will intensify inflation.
