Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce and other 11 departments published the “Implementation Opinions on Giving Better Play to the Role of Consumer Credit in Promoting Quality Improvement and Upgrading on Consumption” saying that the authorities' work objectives by the end of 2026 are to launch a number of new leading high-quality, diversified and integrated consumption scenarios in areas such as commerce, cultural tourism, sports, education and home affairs, etc.. The opinion proposes to expand auto consumption. The authorities should promote vehicle replacement, and put in the effort in the combo of “government subsidies+ manufacturers‘ discount+ financial institutions’ car purchase gift”. The opinion also proposes the development of green household consumption. Combined with the home appliance trade-in policy, financial institutions should be guided to improve financial products and services that are compatible with the consumption of whole house green and smart home appliances.
