Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) said that Yinxing is moving westwards steadily across the northern part of the South China Sea. As the circulation of Yinxing is relatively small, the strong winds associated with Yinxing will not generally affect the territory today (8 November) and tomorrow morning (9 November) yet. The Standby Signal, No. 1 will remain in force at least until tomorrow noon.

Under the combined effect of Yinxing and the northeast monsoon, winds over coast of Guangdong may have a chance to strengthen later tomorrow to early Sunday (10 November). Depending on the distance between Yinxing and the Pearl River Estuary, intensity of Yinxing and the local wind conditions, the Observatory will then assess the need for issuance of the Strong Wind Signal, No. 3.
