|
The US semiconductor industry excluded Chinese companies from its supply chain at the behest of the US government, the Wall Street Journal quoted sources as saying. The US government sought to suppress China's participation in sensitive next-generation technologies. Semiconductor toolmakers asked suppliers to find alternative suppliers for some of the components obtained from China or risk losing their vendor status, according to the report. Suppliers were also told that they could not have Chinese investors or shareholders. The companies that were asked include Applied Materials (AMAT.US) and Lam Research (LRCX.US), sources added.
