The EU decided last week to impose higher tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles (EVs). In response to a question about China's filing of a complaint with the WTO against the EU's final anti-subsidy measures on EVs, a spokesperson from the Ministry of Commerce stated that China has taken the EU's final anti-subsidy measures on Chinese EVs to the WTO dispute settlement mechanism.

China had previously filed a complaint with the WTO regarding the EU's preliminary anti-subsidy measures on EVs. China regrets seeing that the EU still issued the final measures to impose high anti-subsidy taxes on Chinese EVs despite numerous objections from relevant parties including EU member state governments, industry, and the public.

China firmly opposes the EU's decision. To safeguard the interests of the EV industry and global green transition cooperation, China has decided to file a lawsuit against the EU's final anti-subsidy measures.
