Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities, said Apple (AAPL.US) required suppliers to continue production of the two iPhone 16 Pro models during the long Chinese National Day holiday without taking any time off, while the assembly orders for the iPhone 16 have hardly changed, meaning that the demand for the two Pro models has so far broadly met expectations.

Demand for the standard and Plus models of the iPhone 16 has not improved notably compared to last year, he said. Orders after mid-November for some components have decreased, yet with the magnitude less than 3%-5%, which is basically negligible.

The analyst said that the production forecast for the iPhone 16 in the fourth quarter is 88 million to 89 million units, slightly beneath last year's 90 million to 91 million units. Kuo believed that the next key observation will be the impact of the launch of Apple Intelligence in late October on demand and shipments in the US market.
