CN Files Lawsuit at WTO against Canada's Unilateralism and Protectionism Practices

A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOC) responded to the implementation of Canada's additional tariffs on electric vehicles (EVs) from mainland China and the publication of the final product list for additional tariffs on steel and aluminum products from mainland China.

The spokesperson said that China has taken note of the relevant documents published by Canada, and that it has filed a lawsuit with the World Trade Organization (WTO) against Canada's unilateralism and trade protectionism, and has initiated an anti-discrimination investigation against Canada's restrictive measures in accordance with the law.

China believed that Canada should rationally and objectively view bilateral economic and trade cooperation, respect the facts, abide by WTO rules, and not go further down the wrong path. In the meantime, China will take all necessary measures to firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
