CN MOC: Car Trade-in Info Platform Receives 1.13M+ Applications for Scrapping/ Upgrading Car Subsidy

Geng Hongzhou, first-level inspector of the Department of Consumption Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce (MOC), revealed at a special press conference held by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) that the national car trade-in information platform received more than 1.13 million applications for car scrapping/ upgrading subsidies as of yesterday (25th). The platform has more than 1.68 million registered users, reflecting a brisk growth in the number of applications. Geng mentioned that the retail sales volume of passenger vehicles (PVs) nationwide was 13.472 million units in 8M24, a YoY increase of 1.9%. Among them, the retail sales volume of new energy passenger vehicles (NEV-PVs) advanced by 35.3% YoY. In addition, the national recycling volume of scrapped vehicles in 8M24 grew 42.4% YoY.
