<H Shrs>HSI Closes 128 Pts Higher; Pharmas, Golds Rally; CN Banks Boom

The Hong Kong market thrived today. The HSI opened 57 points higher and rose 300 points in early trading to peak at 17,540, from which it narrowed its gains, eventually closing the day up 128 points, or 0.75%, at 17,369. The HSCEI grew 53 points, or 0.9%, to close at 6,071. The HSTECH advanced 4 points, or 0.1%, to close at 3,479. The total market turnover for the day was $88.88 billion. As for tech stocks, BABA-W (09988.HK) dipped 0.5% to $82.75, while TENCENT (00700.HK) inched up 0.6% to $374.8. LENOVO GROUP (00992.HK) passed a resolution to issue US$2 billion in convertible bonds and 1.15 billion warrants. Its stock price swelled 1.5%. XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) climbed 1.6%, while MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), BIDU-SW (09888.HK), and NTES-S (09999.HK) edged up less than 1%. KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) dropped 1.8%. Pharmaceutical stocks delivered encouraging performance. AKESO (09926.HK) rocketed 9.5%. PHARMARON (03759.HK) surged 5.7%. CMS (00867.HK), HANSOH PHARMA (03692.HK), SINO BIOPHARM (01177.HK), and SSY GROUP (02005.HK) soared 3.5-4.3%. As gold prices hit record highs, SD GOLD (01787.HK) and CHINAGOLDINTL (02099.HK) jumped up by 5.7% and 5.3%, while ZHAOJIN MINING (01818.HK) and ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK) added more than 3%. Regarding Chinese banks, CM BANK (03968.HK), PSBC (01658.HK), and CHINA LIFE (02628.HK) each escalated more than 2%, while CCB (00939.HK) and ICBC (01398.HK) rose 1.7%. AAStocks Financial News |
