Micron (MU.US) plunged more than 4% on Thursday after a downgrade and a significant TP cut by BNP Paribas.

BNP Paribas analyst Karl Ackerman downgraded Micron from Outperform to Underperform and axed the TP to US$67 from US$140.

By 2025, Micron will underperform other artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor manufacturers, Ackerman said, mainly due to the oversupply of high-bandwidth memory (HBM), which will depress the average selling price of Micron's memory chips.

If Micron's memory chip prices fall due to the oversupply, he added, the stock could even break below his US$67 target.
