BABA-W (09988.HK) and Singapore's Nanyang Technological University announced the establishment of a joint laboratory to develop power-saving AI technologies and AI healthcare solutions to cope with an aging population, according to Singaporean media reports. Both parties plan to establish a joint research team of about 200 researchers over the next five years to develop new technologies in areas such as energy-efficient AI algorithms and cloud computing technologies, the development of sustainability standards, as well as sustainable lifestyles and digital technologies for an aging society. The operation of the laboratory will be funded by the Research, Innovation and Enterprise program of the National Research Foundation of Singapore, although the exact amount has been veiled.
