Kai-Fu Lee, founder of the startup 01.AI and former head of Google China, said at a forum that AI models from leading Chinese tech companies may be 6-9 months behind those developed in the US, but Chinese AI apps are likely to develop at a much faster pace, according to CNBC. Lee added that the cost of training a good AI model has decreased dramatically, and predicted that apps will be popularized much faster in China than in the US by early-2025.
