A year and a half after the reopening post-pandemic, coupled with the impact of the real estate downturn, China's consumer confidence index is still struggling to recover, Nomura released a research report saying.

China's consumer confidence index fell from 86.2 in June to 86 in July, approaching the all-time low of 85.5 during the COVID-19 pandemic in November 2022. In addition, China's employment index stood at 71.6 in July, setting a new historical low.
