CCTV News reported that President Xi Jinping attended the opening of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing this morning (5 Sep).

He announced that China's bilateral relations with all African countries with diplomatic relations have been upgraded to the level of a strategic relationship. He said that China-Africa relations are at their best in history and suggested that the overall positioning of China-Africa relations should be upgraded to an All-weather China-Africa Community of Common Destiny in the New Era.

Xi said China is willing to assist Africa in its low-carbon technological transformation and jointly promote green development and eco-friendly modernisation. In addition, China and Africa will formulate a 10-point action plan for modernisation in the next three years, and China will unilaterally open its market to 33 African countries and expand imports of agricultural products.
