US stocks posted back-to-back losses in the first two trading days of September, marking a dismal performance. US stocks waned on Wednesday. The DJIA closed 38 points, or 0.1%, higher at 40,974. However, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq closed lower. The S&P 500 closed at 5,520, down 8 points or 0.2%, while the Nasdaq, after Tuesday's big drop, closed at 17,084, down 52 points or 0.3%.

NVIDIA (NVDA.US) reportedly received a subpoena from the US Department of Justice in connection with an antitrust investigation. NVIDIA clarified that it had not received a subpoena. Its stock price briefly turned upward, but still fell about 2% for the day. Conversely, AMD (AMD.US) rallied about 3%.
