Report: PR Head of Ji Yue Reprimanded Internally for Criticising Lei Jun Selling Cars at Loss

XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) announced its results for 2Q24 ended June, disclosing for the first time the performance of Xiaomi Automobile. During the quarter, an adjusted net loss of RMB1.8 billion was logged for XIAOMI's innovative businesses, including smart electric vehicles. Based on the 27,307 new Xiaomi SU7 series of cars delivered during 2Q, the figures implied a loss of about RMB65,900 per vehicle.

According to domestic media reports, Xu Jiye, head of public relations at Ji Yue, wrote in his own Weixin Friend Circle bombarding Lei Jun for selling cars at a loss, blaming XIAOMI for engaging in dumping.

Subsequently, Xia Yiping, CEO of Ji Yue, sent an internal email criticising Xu, stating that his comments did not represent the company's viewpoints, and that the widespread dissemination of his comments had caused adverse impacts. Xia instructed the company's staff to strictly abide by the discipline of not blindly criticising industry peers and not spreading comments that were contrary to the company's values.

Ji Yue is a high-end intelligent automotive robot brand jointly launched by Zhejiang Geely Holding Group and BIDU-SW (09888.HK) in August 2023. Two products, Ji Yue 01 and Ji Yue 07, were launched last year and this year respectively.
