Reuters, quoting sources, reported that India will relax Chinese investment in non-sensitive sectors, including solar panels and batteries.

The report quoted a local official as saying that the country plans to allow Chinese investment in less sensitive sectors in terms of national security. Another Indian official was also quoted as saying that non-critical sector investment approvals will be processed on a case-by-case basis and that local restrictions on Chinese investment in the electronics and communications sector will continue.

India's Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said earlier that she supported the strengthening of economic ties between China and India. V. Anantha Nageswaran, India's Chief Economic Adviser, also noted earlier that India can promote Chinese investment to boost India's exports.

India has stopped issuing visas to Chinese nationals since 2020, but the local government may relax such restrictions on Chinese technicians, which have affected investment.
