The new photovoltaic (PV) installations in mainland China reached 102.48GW in 1H24 with a YoY uptick of 30.7%, showing that the new installations maintained growth but at a slower rate, Wang Bohua, Honorary Chairman of the China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA), said at the Seminar on the Review of the Photovoltaic Industry Development in the First Half of 2024 and the Outlook for the Second Half of the Year.

For the first time in 4 years, there was a single-month YoY drop of 4.27GW in new installations in March, as well as a YoY decline of 0.28GW in April.

However, Wang said that the new PV installations in mainland China will remain at a high level this year, after factoring in the supporting factors, including relaxation of the consumption red line to 90%, accelerated construction of large base projects and power grids, and multiple measures to support distributed development.
