<H Shrs>HSI Declines 108 pts at Midday; ASMPT Crashes ~20%, while Autos & Consumers Wane

HSI declined 108 points or 0.6% to 17,361 at half-day. HSCEI decreased 31 points or 0.5% to 6,163. HSTECH waned 30 points or 0.9% to 3,514. Half-day turnover totalled $42.877 billion.

Tesla and General Motors shares retreated after results, and Hong Kong-listed auto stocks followed. BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) descended 2.3% to $233. LI AUTO-W (02015.HK), LEAPMOTOR (09863.HK) and NIO-SW (09866.HK) reduced 3.3% to 3.9%, while XPENG-W (09868.HK) and GWMOTOR (02333.HK) slumped 4.9% and 6.1%.

Some consumer stocks weakened. NONGFU SPRING (09633.HK) crumpled 6.9%, as CHINA RES BEER (00291.HK), PRADA (01913.HK) and BLUE MOON GROUP (06993.HK) plummeted 5.6% to 6.3%. U-PRESID CHINA (00220.HK), TINGYI (00322.HK), TSINGTAO BREW (00168.HK) and BUD APAC (01876.HK) decreased more than 3%. Jewellery retailer CHOW TAI FOOK (01929.HK) descended 5.9% after its 1FQ retail sales value shrank 20% YoY.

Chip equipment company ASMPT (00522.HK) shares cratered 19.5% at midday after its 3Q sales guidance fell short of Morgan Stanley's worst-case scenario forecast. NTES-S (09999.HK)'s new game "Naraka Bladepoint Mobile" saw over 40 million players pre-registering for public beta, and its shares hiked 4.8%.

For other tech stocks, BABA-SW (09988.HK) advanced 0.5% to $74.45, TENCENT (00700.HK) dipped 0.3% to $365, MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) and XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) decreased 2.6% and 2%, and JD-SW (09618.HK) reduced 1.6%. BIDU-SW (09888.HK), KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) and BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) all declined less than 1%.

In other shares, HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) incremented 0.2% to $66.9, as HKEX (00388.HK) slid 1.4% and AIA (01299.HK) dived 3.6%.
