Guangdong Approves Site for Yangjiang Airport; Construction May Commence Next Yr

Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) approved the site for Yangjiang Airport, agreed to the Shuangping site as the preferred site of Yangjiang Airport, marking a major breakthrough in the current phase of the Yangjiang Airport project.

Yangjiang City will accelerate the integration in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It is expected to start construction in 2025, facilitating high-quality development of Yangjiang.

Yangjiang City Development and Reform Bureau said Yangjiang Airport is positioned as a domestic 4C-grade regional airport, with the near-term planning and construction of a 2800 x 45m runway, the designed capacity of 2 million passengers, the annual passenger aircraft movements of 26,315, equipped with a terminal building and related operational support facilities.

It is also intended to open the routes from Yangjiang to 15 cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Chengdu, Hefei, Xi'an and Zhengzhou.
