Nvidia (NVDA.US) CEO Jensen Huang told a shareholders’ meeting that the company's strength in AI chips stems from a bet it made more than a decade ago, splashing billions of US dollars on AI projects and assembling a team of thousands of engineers, CNBC reported.

Speaking of competition in the market, Huang mentioned the company's overall strategy to maintain its bellwether position, saying that the company has transformed itself from a gaming-focused business to a data-center-focused company that is seeking to develop AI applications in new areas, such as industrial robots, and that it plans to partner with every computer maker and cloud provider to achieve this goal.

He also mentioned that AI chips from other companies may be cheaper, but he believed Nvidia's chips are more affordable considering their performance and running costs.

At the meeting, shareholders approved the remuneration plan of senior executives, with Huang receiving total remuneration of approximately US$34 million in FY2024, a 60% increment over FY2023.
