CATHAY PAC AIR (00293.HK) announced that it carried a total of 1.6785 million passengers in May 2024, up 18.4% YoY and down about 4% MoM. The month’s revenue passenger kilometres increased 20.8% YoY. Passenger load factor decreased by 4.8 ppts to 80.3%, while available seat kilometres increased by 28% YoY. In the first five months of 2024, the number of passengers carried increased by 40.7% to a total of 8.8219 million. The airline carried 121,100 tonnes of cargo in May 2024, an increase of 10.2% compared with May 2023. In the first five months of 2024, the tonnage increased by 10.2% to a total of 594,900 tonnes. Lavinia Lau, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer at CATHAY, noted that the airline has reached 80% of its pre-pandemic passenger flights in 2Q24 as planned, and remained on track to reach 100% within 1Q25.
