China's National Immigration Administration (NIA) announced 10 immigration and entry-exit management service policies and measures. With effect from Wednesday (5th), in addition to the existing facial recognition clearance at Shenzhen Bay Port and Zhuhai Gongbei Port, the technology will be stretched to Luohu, Liantang, Futian, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Zhuhai Hengqin, Wenjindu, Shanghai Hongqiao Airport, Xiamen Gaoqi Airport, Wutong Terminal, Guangzhou Pazhou Passenger Port, and Nansha Passenger Port.

Facial recognition clearance is applicable to mainland residents aged 14 and above who hold valid Exit-Entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao and multiple-entry visas for stay, family visits, business, talent, and other types, as well as Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents (Home Return Permit) (including non-Chinese nationals), who consent to the collection and verification of facial and fingerprint information for border inspection purposes.
