John Lee: No. of Fintech Firms in HK Exceeds 1,200, Growing 10% YoY

The Hong Kong FinTech Week x StartmeupHK Festival 2025 (HKFW x SMUF) are jointly held in Hong Kong starting today (3rd) for five consecutive days.

The event is expected to gather over 37,000 participants from more than 100 economies, Chief Executive John Lee delivered an opening speech at the main conference saying.

He also revealed that Hong Kong currently has over 1,200 fintech companies, with a YoY growth of 10%. It is predicted that, by 2032, the total revenue of Hong Kong's fintech industry will exceed US$600 billion, with an annual growth rate of over 28%.

In 1-3Q25, Hong Kong's IPO fundraising scale has exceeded US$23 billion, demonstrating Hong Kong's value as the world's top listing venue and financing hub, Lee added.

With continuous inflow of foreign capital and a technology talent ranking among the highest globally and in Asia, he believed that Hong Kong can effectively connect China with global markets, continuously attracting overseas companies to list in Hong Kong and encouraging the return of Chinese concept stocks, meanwhile also striving to enhance the infrastructure of the bond market.
