Julapun Amornvivat, Thailand's deputy finance minister, said that a draft law related to casino resorts will be submitted to the cabinet for consideration within 2024, Bangkok Post reported. If approved, the draft law will be forwarded to the parliament for review.

The bill reportedly passed a public hearing recently with 82% support. Amornvivat further expected that if the new bill and policies are enforced, the new resorts will help raise per capita tourism spending from the current THB40,000 to THB60,000, and attract an additional 5-20% of foreign tourists.

The draft law proposes a minimum registered capital of THB10 billion for the three resort complexes, and entry fee of no more than THB5,000 per visit for locals. Licenses will be valid for 30 years and can be extended for another 10 years. The initial license fee is THB5 billion, and the annual fee is THB1 billion.
