Hong Kong’s Financial Secretary Paul Chan said in his blogpost that the Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises (OASES) will announce a new batch of key enterprises next month, involving more than a dozen enterprises, more than half of which are from the fields of AI and big data and from places such as the Mainland China, the US and Europe; some of them are even leading enterprises in their fields.

As the city enters the fourth quarter, the overall market has cheered up obviously, Chan said. The HSI has risen to an about-2.5-year high, gaining more than 5,600 pts or 33% over the past 15 trading days. The average daily turnover from September to last Friday was about $192 billion, double the average daily turnover in August. The market cap of the Hong Kong bourse has also expanded to $39.4 trillion.

A number of factors are conducive to the market's future uptrend amid struggles. Among which, the various policy measures as announced earlier by the mainland to strongly support the economy have played a key role. At the same time, the market believed that the US rate-cutting cycle has begun, and therefore the risk appetite for investment has heightened. The purchase demand of many fund portfolios enticed by position indicators, coupled with the highly attractive valuations of the Hong Kong and mainland markets, have made investors cautiously optimistic about the market outlook.
