Hong Kong’s Executive Council resumed its meeting. Chief Executive John Lee met the media ahead of the meeting and announced that more than 400 celebration activities will be held across the territory on National Day 2024. On that day, the government will subsidize the public to watch movies at half prices through the Film Development Fund. Besides, the public can ride the tram for free, and use the Octopus card to get a 25% discount on any MTR ride, whereas children can take designated daytime routes of the KMB, LWB, Citybus and New Lantao Bus for free. From September 30 to October 2, the public can also ride the Star Ferry between Tsim Sha Tsui and Wan Chai, and Central for free.

Leisure and sports facilities, museums and the Wetland Park under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will be open for free on National Day. It is expected that many shopping malls, the West Kowloon Cultural District, Ocean Park, Ngong Ping 360, the Peak Tram, and more than 3,000 restaurants in Hong Kong will offer National Day discounts.
