Survey: 90%+ Economists Expect Fed to Cut Rates by 25 Bps Next Wk

A monthly survey conducted by Reuters from the 6th to the 10th of this month among economists revealed that out of 101 respondents, 92 expected the Fed to cut rates by 25 bps at next week's meeting, while the remaining 9 expected a 50 bps cut.

Among the 95 economists who responded to the survey, 65 expected the Fed to cut rates by 25 bps in both November and December meetings, with 55 out of 101 economists holding the same view in last month's survey. In addition, among the 71 economists surveyed, 13 expected one 50 bps cut this year, while 54 considered it unlikely. Out of 19 surveyed primary dealers, 11 expected the Fed to cut rates by a total of 75 bps over the remaining three meetings this year.
