Georges Elhedery, who will become CEO at HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) on 2 September, is considering trimming his middle management, following similar moves by Citigroup (C.US) and STANCHART (02888.HK), Bloomberg reported, citing sources.

A group spokesperson declined to comment on the reports.

It is learnt that HSBC may cut the number of country heads in its global network, and that Elhedery may also adjust the number of senior executives and positions reporting to him when he takes over, though the proposed programme is still at a very early stage and adjustments are possible.
