The Office of the Customs Tariff Commission of the PRC State Council announced that the US government declared on the previous day (10th) an increase in the "reciprocal tariffs" on Chinese goods exported to the US to 125%.

The US's arbitrary imposition of excessively high tariffs on China severely violates international economic and trade rules, disregards the post-World War II global economic order established by the US itself, and contradicts basic economic principles and common sense, constituting unilateral bullying and coercion, which China strongly condemns.

According to the "Tariff Law of the People's Republic of China", "Customs Law of the People's Republic of China", "Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China", and other laws and regulations, as well as basic principles of international law, with the approval of the State Council, the Customs Tariff Commission of the PRC State Council issued an announcement that starting April 12, 2025, the tariff hike as stipulated in the "Announcement of the Customs Tariff Commission of the PRC State Council on Adjusting Tariff Hike Measures on Imported Goods Originating from the US" (Tariff Commission Announcement No. 5 of 2025) will be lifted from 84% to 125%, while other matters will be implemented according to the "Announcement of the Customs Tariff Commission of the PRC State Council on Imposing Additional Tariffs on Imported Goods Originating from the US" (Tariff Commission Announcement No. 4 of 2025).

The announcement also emphasized that China will pay no more regard to the US' tariff number game if it insists on continuing it.
