The 3-year transition period of Macau's satellite casinos will expire at the end of the year, entering the countdown of less than 8 month, according to Macao Daily News.

The Macau gaming industry and all walks of life are paying close attention in anticipation of an early solution. Some practitioners of the Macau gaming industry said that, according to the law, the initiative to keep or remove satellite casinos rests with gaming firms, while satellite casinos are in a passive position.

However, the Macao government can flexibly handle the allocation of gaming tables in satellite casinos. Even if satellite casinos close down, not all the gaming tables may be returned to gaming companies, and they should be redistributed by the government, so as to co-ordinate the negotiation between gaming companies and satellite casinos.

After the six integrated tourism and leisure enterprises re-tendered their gaming licenses at the end of 2022, the Macao government, through an instruction from the Chief Executive, set the maximum number of gaming tables/ gaming machines in Macao at 6,000/ 12,000 each.
