The Subsidised Housing Committee of the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) held a meeting today (21st) to scrutinize the tightening of well-off tenants policies in public rental housing (PRH). The HA will propose to increase the rent for the well-off tenants of PRH by adopting the principle of “affordable users pay”, Hong Kong media quoted sources as saying. If the income of well-off tenants exceeds 2x but not more than 3x of the income limit, the rent will be increased from 1.5x of the rent to 2.5x of the rent. If the income of well-off tenants exceeds 4x but not more than 5x of the income limit, the rent will be increased from 2x of the current rent to 4.5x of the rent.
