Hong Kong bourse opened sharply higher this morning, up 392 points or 1.7%, at 23,987. The initial gains broadened, pushing the index back above the 24,000 mark, with a peak increase of 588 points to 24,182, the highest in about three years. The latest reading showed the HSI at 24,164, up 570 points or 2.4%, with a turnover of HKD109.808 billion. The HSTECH last soared 247 points or nearly 4.3%, touching 6,005.

Heavyweight techs drove the market higher. KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK)  +2.900 (+4.770%)    Short selling $2.12B; Ratio 20.523%   last posted at HKD58.4, up 11.13%, making it the best-performing blue-chip stock, with a turnover of HKD3.342 billion. BABA-W (09988.HK)  -0.800 (-0.568%)    Short selling $6.72B; Ratio 19.026%   last stood at HKD139.3, swelling 7.24%, with a turnover of HKD8.839 billion. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK)  +3.200 (+1.775%)    Short selling $1.89B; Ratio 13.491%   last printed at HKD180.4, up 5.19%, with a turnover of HKD3.66 billion. TENCENT (00700.HK)  -10.500 (-1.930%)    Short selling $2.93B; Ratio 11.734%   last came in at HKD534.5, rallying 5.74%, with a turnover of HKD15.976 billion. NEW ORIENTAL-S (09901.HK)  +0.050 (+0.131%)    Short selling $39.35M; Ratio 21.342%   , JD-SW (09618.HK)  -8.900 (-4.972%)    Short selling $1.30B; Ratio 21.676%   , and TRIP.COM-S (09961.HK)  +12.900 (+2.587%)    Short selling $719.99M; Ratio 27.592%   also mounted between 3.8% and 4.3%.
