Shen Danyang, head of the government work report drafting team and Director of the State Council Research Office, said at a briefing held by the State Council Information Office that the Chinese government needs to solve the issues of insufficient spending power, inadequate quality supply and further improvement in the consumption environment this year.

The authorities will implement the “special action for consumption boost” specifically, Shen added. The relevant departments are currently formulating action plans and complementary policies, which will be introduced as soon as possible.
