French President Emmanuel Macron described Donald Trump's potential return as US President as a shock, urging Europe to secure its own and Ukraine's future by bolstering defense and economy, the Financial Times reported.

In Macron's opinion, Trump's ideas on Gaza and Greenland exemplify the extreme strategic uncertainty the world currently faces. He called on Europe to enhance defense while revitalizing economic growth through deregulation and economic integration, and better meet the investment demands for emerging technologies like AI and green transition.
