The Exchange Fund recorded an investment income of $219 billion in 2024, comprising gains on bonds of $135.6 billion; gains on Hong Kong equities of $21.8 billion; gains on other equities of $68.7 billion; negative currency translation effect of $35.6 billion on non-HKD assets; and gains on other investments of $28.5 billion, as announced by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA).

In addition, the Exchange Fund recorded an investment return of 5.3% in 2024. Specifically, the Investment Portfolio achieved a rate of return of 7.2% and the Backing Portfolio gained 4.1%. The Long Term Growth Portfolio (LTGP) recorded an annualized internal rate of return of 11.5% up to the end of September 2024.
