During a meeting with envoys of ten ASEAN countries in Beijing on January 16, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that the recent spate of Internet gambling and telephone scams along the Thai-Myanmar border has threatened and harmed the personal interests of citizens of China and other countries, and that it is necessary to pay great attention to these cases, according to Xinhua News Agency.

It is hoped that the countries concerned will shoulder their responsibilities and take strong measures to combat Internet gambling and electricity fraud, safeguard the lives and properties of the people, and never allow criminals to get away with it, Wang indicated.
