Nvidia (NVDA.US) and Qualcomm (QCOM.US) are testing Samsung Foundry's 2nm chips as an alternative, mainly because they want to quit overreliance on TSMC, which has made them lose the bargaining power and pay too high costs, according to foreign news reports. Samsung Foundry's performance in the past has not been satisfactory, in particular, overheating and performance limitations in the production of 4nm chips for Qualcomm led to a loss of customer confidence, report said.
