XIAOMI-W (01810.HK)  -2.150 (-5.923%)    Short selling $2.46B; Ratio 16.628%   is stepping up its development of its own foundation model for AI, while deploying a 10,000-GPUs cluster, a drastic increase in size from the 6,500 GPUs it had when its foundation model team was founded, Jiemian.com reported.

Citing people familiar with the matter, the report said that Xiaomi started to promote the program a few months ago, headed by group chairman Lei Jun.

In addition, Lei personally recruited Luo Fuli, one of the key developers of DeepSeek's open source foundation model DeepSeek-V2, to join Xiaomi, with generous offer, according to earlier hearsay. She was expected to lead Xiaomi's foundation model team.
