Amid a series of restrictions imposed by the US on Huawei and other Chinese tech companies due to national security threats, Huawei has distributed samples of its latest AI chip, the "Ascend 910C", to some tech firms and begun accepting orders, with mass production expected to kick off in 1Q25, Reuters reported, citing sources. The chip's performance is said to rival that of NVIDIA (NVDA.US)      products.

For advanced chips to achieve objective commercial returns, a yield rate of over 70% is necessary. However, sources indicated that US restrictions have impacted the yield rate (the proportion of qualified products among produced semiconductors) of Huawei's advanced chips. The "Ascend 910C" is manufactured by SMIC (00981.HK)  +0.850 (+3.380%)    Short selling $236.26M; Ratio 11.204%   , but the chip's yield rate is only 20% due to the lack of advanced lithography machines.
