Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) said that a strong northeast monsoon will reach the coast of southern China later on Sunday (17 November). Depending on the change in local wind conditions, the Observatory will consider issuing the Strong Monsoon Signal by then. Meanwhile, Tropical Cyclone Man-yi is expected to enter within 800 km of Hong Kong between Sunday night and early Monday (18 November) and gradually edge closer to the coast of southern China. Under the combined effect of the northeast monsoon and Man-yi, winds will gradually strengthen over the region next Monday and Tuesday (19 November), the Observatory will issue a Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal by then.
