AlipayHK announced the expansion of its cross-border transportation services. With immediate effect, users can scan the QR code on public buses in Dongguan to pay the fare.

Separately, a new "Shanghai QR Code" (Shanghai Urban Travel Code) was also added, which allows users to take all public transportation in Shanghai.

In the past year, more than 10 million Hong Kong users used AlipayHK's cross-border ride-hailing services, AlipayHK said. In addition to over 90% of public transport in Hong Kong, AlipayHK also covers the Shanghai Metro, Shenzhen Metro, Guangzhou Metro, and other public transport services.
