The US government ordered TSMC (TSM.US)      to stop shipping advanced chips for AI applications to Chinese customers starting Monday (11th), according to Reuters.

It is reported that the US Department of Commerce has sent a letter to TSMC imposing export restrictions on certain 7nm or more advanced chips, which are primarily used in China's AI accelerator and GPU.

A spokesperson for TSMC declined to comment on the report, stating only that the Company is a law-abiding company that is committed to complying with all applicable rules and regulations, including export controls.
